Karaoke Sync®

Karaoke Sync (“the app”) is made by Olivia Renee Studio, LLC (“we,” “us”), which is responsible for the information described here (the “controller” under EU and UK data-protection law). This policy covers the Karaoke Sync app for iOS and Android. It explains what information the app handles, who receives it and the choices you have, and it was written against what the current versions of the app actually do. Section 8 covers our websites. 1. What Stays on Your Device

The audio you import, your lyrics and timings, your projects, and the voice and video recordings you make are kept in the app's private storage on your phone or tablet, and the app never uploads them. Files you export are saved or shared where you choose (on Android, to your Downloads folder). We cannot see any of this, so we cannot recover it for you.

• Microphone and camera. The app asks for the microphone when you use Sing, Practice or recording, and for the camera when you record video. Recordings are saved in the project on your device. The app does not use speech recognition. If you decline a permission, only the features that need it are unavailable.
• Importing audio. You choose files with your device's file picker, and the app copies them into your project.
• Deleting. Deleting a project deletes its files. On Android, removing the app deletes its data from your device, and the app's data is excluded from Android backups (the export count in section 7 is also kept on our server). On iOS, the app's files are included in your iCloud or computer backups like any app's, and a few small records — your export count, tokens, unlocked songs, favorites, quiz scores and the identifier described in section 2 — are kept in the iOS Keychain, so they remain if you delete and reinstall the app.

2. AI Song Quiz and AI Song Facts

These optional features create quiz questions and facts about songs. When you use them, the app sends our server:

• the song's title and artist, and details such as its album, genre, composer or catalog ID when the app has them;
• your device's language, the kind of content you asked for, and whether you have Pro;
• a random identifier the app creates for your device. It is not based on your name, email address or hardware, and the app does not display it. On iOS it is kept in the Keychain and survives reinstalling the app; on Android, reinstalling creates a new one.

Like any server, ours also receives your IP address and the standard technical details that come with every internet request. With the identifier, we store how many new songs you unlock each month and which songs you have unlocked, so unlocked songs stay unlocked and the monthly limit works: 10 new songs a month in the free version and 100 with Pro, with an ad or tokens for more. Because these records are tied to an identifier for your device, they are pseudonymous personal data, even though they are not linked to your name.

Our server and database run on Supabase, in the United States. When a song does not have quiz questions or facts yet (or not yet in your language), the server looks the song up on Wikipedia and sends the song details — never your identifier or IP address — to Anthropic's Claude AI model to write them. AI features are not offered in a few regions where our AI provider's terms do not allow it; the app checks your device's region setting to decide.

Legal basis: providing a feature you ask for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in enforcing its limits and preventing abuse (Art. 6(1)(f)).

3. Karaoke Mode, Song Search and Requests

• Karaoke Mode. When you browse, search or play songs in our karaoke catalog, the app sends our server your device identifier, your language and any search text. We record which songs are unlocked and rated with that identifier. Plays are counted per song and language without it. Synced lyrics come from LRCLIB (lrclib.net), a public lyrics service that receives an ID number for the lyrics and your IP address.
• Finding a song. Searching the song list for quizzes and facts sends your search text to our server without your identifier. On iOS, if you allow access to Apple Music, the app searches Apple's music catalog, so Apple receives your search under Apple's privacy policy; no Apple Music subscription is needed. On Android, searching for a song to request uses Deezer's public search service, which receives your search text and IP address under Deezer's privacy policy.
• Song requests. When you ask us to add a song, we store its details (such as title, artist, album and catalog IDs), your language and your device identifier. The identifier is removed 12 months after the request. Our server may check the song with Deezer, without your identifier.
• Reports. If you report a problem with content in the app, we store what you reported, the reason you chose from a list and your device identifier. Each device can send up to five reports a day. We normally delete a report once we've reviewed it, and the identifier is removed after 12 months at the latest.

Legal basis: providing the features you use (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in running and improving the catalog (Art. 6(1)(f)).

4. YouTube Projects

If you make a project from a YouTube video, the app fetches the video's title and thumbnail from YouTube and plays the video in YouTube's embedded player inside the app. YouTube (Google) receives your IP address, the video being played and technical information about your device, and may store cookies or similar data in the app's player, as described in Google's privacy policy.

5. Analytics and Crash Reports

To understand how the app is used and to find and fix crashes, Karaoke Sync uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google, in both the free version and Pro. Crashlytics starts when you open the app. So does Analytics, except in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, where it runs only if you agree to it (see below). Together they collect:

• an identifier that Firebase creates for your installation of the app, your device model, operating system and app version, your language, and your approximate location (such as your country or city), worked out from your IP address;
• which features you use, such as creating projects, exporting, recording, games and Karaoke Mode, with details such as game scores, token balances and whether you have Pro, and the titles and artists of songs you use in AI Song Quiz, AI Song Facts and Karaoke Mode;
• your device's advertising identifier: on Android, the Advertising ID unless you have deleted it; on iOS, the IDFA only if you allow tracking (see section 6);
• crash reports with technical details about the crash, your device and the app.

We look at this information in aggregate reports. Google processes it under the Firebase privacy terms.

Your choice in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. Analytics stays off until you agree to it in Google's consent form, the same form that asks about ads (see section 6), and it stays off if you decline. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in Settings → About → Privacy options; withdrawing turns Analytics off again. This choice does not cover crash reports. Outside these regions, the app has no setting to turn Analytics off.

Legal basis: for Analytics in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)); for Analytics elsewhere and for crash reports, our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f)).

6. Ads in the Free Version

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob: banners on some screens, full-screen ads at certain moments (such as after you create a project), and optional rewarded ads you can watch for an extra export, tokens or an unlock. To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may process your device's advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS; the Advertising ID and App Set ID on Android), your IP address (to estimate your general location), and information about the ads you see and how you use the app. On iOS the app also supports SKAdNetwork, Apple's privacy-preserving way to measure ad-driven installs, and on Android Google may use the Android Privacy Sandbox advertising features. How Google uses this information is described in Google's advertising policy.

Your choices:

• Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland). Before ads load, the app asks for your choice through Google's consent form. Your choice there also decides whether Analytics runs (see section 5), so Pro subscribers see the form too. Change or withdraw it any time in Settings → About → Privacy options, a row that appears where consent rules require it.
• App Tracking Transparency (iOS). In the free version, iOS asks whether Karaoke Sync may track you across other companies' apps and websites. Declining makes ads less relevant; it does not remove them. Change your mind in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
• Android. Reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your device settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads; the exact path varies by device).
• Remove ads. Karaoke Sync Pro removes all ads from the app. When the app knows you have Pro, it does not start Google's advertising software or load ads, and on iOS it does not ask for tracking permission. If your subscription ends, the free version's ads return.

A note for U.S. state privacy laws: we do not sell your personal information, but personalized advertising through Google AdMob may count as “sharing” or a “sale” for cross-context behavioral advertising under laws such as California's CCPA/CPRA. The tracking and Advertising ID controls above limit it, and Pro removes ads.

Legal basis: where the consent form is shown, the choice you make in it (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)); otherwise our legitimate interest in offering a free, ad-supported version (Art. 6(1)(f)).

7. Subscriptions and Free-Version Limits

Karaoke Sync Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It includes an ad-free experience, unlimited projects and exports, and higher AI limits; see the Karaoke Sync page for current pricing. Apple or Google processes the payment and holds the receipt; the app only learns whether your subscription is active and remembers that on your device. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. When you use AI features, the app tells our server whether you have Pro so the right limits apply. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

The free version allows up to 10 projects at a time and 10 exports in total (lyrics, audio and video combined); watching an ad or spending tokens adds an export. The export count is kept:

• on iOS, only on your device, in the iOS Keychain, so it survives reinstalling the app;
• on Android, on your device and on our server, so it survives reinstalling the app. The server copy is stored under a one-way code derived from your device's Android ID, not under the Android ID itself.

Legal basis for the export count: our legitimate interest in enforcing the free version's limits (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

8. Our Websites

The Karaoke Sync marketing site (karaokesync.com) is a static site hosted by Cloudflare (privacy policy). It sets no cookies; your browser's local storage remembers your analytics choice and your tutorial language and iOS/Android preference. To see which pages are read and how quickly they load, it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and gives us aggregate statistics only. Visitors in the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked first, and it runs only if they choose Allow; elsewhere it runs by default, and anyone can switch it off with Privacy Choices at the bottom of every page. The page you are reading is on oliviarenee.app, our studio site, which is served from a DigitalOcean server behind Cloudflare. oliviarenee.app uses Google Analytics — but only after you accept it in the cookie banner. If you decline, or have not yet chosen, no analytics cookie is set. What is stored and how to change your choice are set out in our Cookie Policy. Its fonts are served from oliviarenee.app itself.

Like any website, the hosting providers see your IP address and standard request data when a page is served.

9. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell personal information. The services that receive information when you use the app are the ones named above:

• Google — Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics; AdMob in the free version; the consent form in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland; YouTube for YouTube projects; Google Play distribution and billing.
• Apple — Apple Music catalog search on iOS, and App Store distribution and billing.
• Supabase — hosts our server and database.
• Anthropic — writes quiz questions and facts from song details, without your identifier.
• LRCLIB and Deezer — lyrics and song search (see section 3).
• Our website hosts — see section 8.

We would also disclose information if required by law.

10. International Transfers

Olivia Renee Studio, LLC is based in the United States, and our server and database run in Supabase's U.S. data centers (Oregon). Google, Apple and Anthropic also process information in the United States. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, your information is therefore transferred to the United States. Where a provider processes it for us, the transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK and Swiss addenda) in that provider's data-processing terms, or on its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions.

11. How Long We Keep Information

• On your device: until you delete it or remove the app. On iOS, the Keychain records described in section 1 can remain after you remove the app.
• Unlock records and the Android export count on our server: for as long as the app offers those features, because unlocked songs and the free export allowance are permanent.
• Monthly AI usage counts: kept with the identifier, one record per month, and deleted 12 months after the end of that month.
• Karaoke plays: counted per song and language, without any identifier.
• Song requests and reports: the identifier is removed 12 months after they're submitted. Reports are normally deleted once reviewed.
• Karaoke ratings: kept with the identifier for as long as the song is in the karaoke catalog.
• Analytics, crash and advertising data: kept by Google according to its retention settings and policies.
• Website data: see section 8 and the notices it links to.

12. Children

Karaoke Sync is a general-audience app, rated 13+ on the App Store and Teen on Google Play, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us and we will help; ads are governed by the consent and identifier controls in section 6.

13. Your Rights and Choices

• Projects and recordings — delete them in the app, or remove the app.
• Permissions — allow or deny the microphone, camera, Apple Music and tracking in your device settings.
• Analytics — in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, change or withdraw your consent in Settings → About → Privacy options (see section 5).
• Ads — the consent, tracking and Advertising ID controls in section 6.
• Subscriptions — manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Depending on where you live (for example the EEA or UK under the GDPR, or U.S. states such as California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, please use our contact form. Records on our server are tied only to a random identifier that the app does not show, so we usually cannot tell which records are yours, but we will help where we can. We will not treat you differently for exercising a right, and you may complain to your local data-protection authority.

14. Security

Your projects and recordings are kept in the app's private storage, which your device's operating system keeps separate from other apps and protects with device encryption. The identifier and the export count are kept in the iOS Keychain or in encrypted storage on Android. The app sends information over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle.

15. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version at this address and update the “Last updated” date at the top.
